Holiday Party
December 16, 2022
We were so excited to wrap up the year with the Holiday Party! We started the night with a classic holiday meal of pizza and eggnog. Then we moved on to the gingerbread decorating competition. PharGS members busted out their creative side and made some stellar gingerbread creations. The winners made a fabulous gingerbread house complete with colourful candy and frosty icing. An honourable mention goes to the group that made a gingerbread rat with spaghetti whiskers. We then wrapped up the night with some festive music and games.
A big shout out to all the PharGS members for coming out to the Holiday Party and the past events. It’s been a pleasure organizing events to bring graduate students together this year. We are excited to pass the torch to Chad and Olivia next yearJ

Cambie Night
November 28, 2022
We were so happy to uphold a longstanding tradition in PharGS, of Cambie night on November 25th! For the first time since the pandemic, we were able to go out to the iconic Cambie in Gastown for a night out. People ate, drank, mingled, and some even busted a few moves on the dance floor. We had such a great turnout and want to thank everyone for coming out to make this a night to remember (or forget)!
We are excited to see you at the last event before the new year, the Holiday Party 😊

Halloween Party

We were so excited to host a big party for Halloween! For this event, PharGS members gathered in costume for a spooky night of celebrating! We had some food and drinks before carving some pumpkins, and a costume contest. We had some very creative participants, here are the winners:

Paint Night

We were so excited to have a Paint Night, an event where we got to unwind and get artsy!🎨
We started off by eating some pizza, sipping on sangria and then the real magic began. Leah led beginners through a tutorial, but others chose to make their own unique creations! We were impressed with everyone’s creativity and the beautiful artwork.

Welcome Event
September 9, 2022
We were so excited to celebrate the start of term and meet our new cohort of grad students! We had a chance to catch up with one another while we gorged on sushi, had some drinks, and played some games.
After a long day for our students at orientation, it was great to see everyone relax and celebrate the start of the new academic year! We can’t wait for the next event, and hope to see all your wonderful faces again 😊

GSS Softball Tournament
Sumer 2022
Organized by the UBC Graduate Student Society, a softball tournament is held every summer. Each faculty is allowed to send one representative team.
Bowling Night
July 7, 2022
We were so excited to have the chance to host a bowling event that allowed us to get out of the building and explore off campus!
PharGS members gathered for a chill evening of bowling, glow-in-the-dark style at Grandview lanes on Commerical! In a tough competition, a few came out on top, but we all had fun on the way- gutter balls and all. We were thrilled to have a smaller event that allowed us to chat a bit more, and escape some of the summer heat.

Pacific Spirit Park Hike
May 27, 2022
We were so excited to collaborate with the Health and Wellness Subcommittee to for a beautiful hike! We got to explore our campus by taking the scenic route through Pacific Spirit Park.
We had such a great turnout and want to thank everyone for taking some time to unwind in the outdoors with us!
Given how great this hike went, we are hoping to plan more throughout the summer months, so stay tuned!😊

End of Term Celebration

We were so excited to celebrate the end of term and everyone’s fantastic GPRS presentations at Koerner’s pub! We had a chance to catch up with each other over some food, drinks, and a few intense rounds of pool.
After a long day at GPRS it was great to see everyone relax and celebrate the amazing research being done in our faculty! Congrats again to everyone on finishing the term! New events are coming with the promise of warmer weather😊

Spring Fling Egg Hunt
April 18, 2022
To celebrate the start of the April long weekend, we enjoyed a Spring Fling with an Egg hunt!
Students had to use their best detective skills to find colourful eggs filled with treats hidden around the building. Our grand prize winners were as follows: In 3rd place Sina Halvaei who found 10 eggs; in 2nd place, Lisa Cheng with an impressive 17 eggs, and in 1st place, Juliana Bolsoni who found a whopping 22 eggs!

St. Paddy's Day

We were so excited to host a big celebration for St. Paddy’s day!
For this event, PharGS members gathered for a night of celebrating in Irish tradition. We had some food and drinks before getting into some games, including Shot potato and Irish poker! We had such a great turnout and want to thank everyone for joining and making this a night to remember.
We are excited for events in the upcoming months, especially now that things are finally warming up 😊

Clay Night
February 25, 2022
We were so excited to host our first in-person event of the year: Clay Night!
For this event, PharGS members gathered for a night of unwinding and creativity. We had some food and drinks before getting messy with clay! Some discovered the basics of clay while others took what they already knew and ran with it. Everyone’s creations turned out to be amazing and unique :)

Virtual Games Night
February 11, 2022
To kick off 2022, PharGS hosted a Virtual Games Night on February 11!
This was a fun-filled night where we met on Zoom to hangout and play some interactive games online. Some people showed off their beautiful drawing skills in a jeopardy-style Pictionary game, and some spent the evening trying to hunt down the werewolves while playing Werewolf.
Thanks so much to everyone that joined our event, we’re happy to be able to stay connected even when the pandemic prevents us from seeing each other in person.
